Employers are constantly seeking high energy, self-motivated, positive employees because they build a team up to their highest potential. An example of such an employee is eQuality’s own “Mama Bear”. Patsy began with eQuality in 2012 and is currently employed at one of eQuality’s 21 enclave sites, The Hampton Inn in Maple Grove. “I came to eQuality because I needed more opportunities to work. I love working, I am an active person and I enjoy having my job to come to every day.” Patsy describes her previous job placement as a fun environment but not a place where she felt independent. “I like people, I want to be surrounded by new people every day. That’s the best part of my job now, I get to interact with our guests.” Patsy displays such passion while explaining her job, instead of just listing off her tasks and what she likes most about her work, she grabs your hand and says “Come on I will show you and you can do it too, I know you can!” The amount of encouragement she provides her peers is so infectious and in return makes you a better person just witnessing it. We all strive to have this positive lifestyle but it is not always the easiest goal to achieve. I asked Patsy how she lives such a positive life and the answer was so simple “The reason I am the way I am is because of the choices I make. I wake up every morning and say “It’s a good day, I get to go to work and I have everything I need for a good day!” It really helps me.”
What a brilliant yet simple statement “The reason I am the way I am is because of the choices I make.” It is Patsy’s choice to complete her job to the best of her ability, it is her choice to smile, it is her choice to be kind to those around her and it is her choice to be actively employed in her community.

Currently we serve over 160 associates who are employed across the Twin Cities, either in an independent job placement or in an enclave setting. eQuality has been innovating the day program model for almost 20 years and will continue to challenge the community in an effort to provide the broadest range of experiences possible to our associates.
