Here we are with a new season upon us. The one big difference this year is the fact that eQuality has made a land purchase out in Buffalo and we’ve begun farming on new property. We moved in the Fall, took a couple months off and have been full speed ahead ever since. Every season has a routine to it, getting the land ready before planting etc., and then the actual planting itself. One of the biggest challenges of a new property is deciding where to plant certain things. So as we move forward everyday, we learn something new about our new place.
It’s been cold and rainy, so things are slow to grow. Well, most things anyway. The Brassicas and greens look great, and the root vegetables don’t mind the miserable conditions we’ve had. The warm weather crops are a different story. We got a little nervous with the cool conditions so we seeded trays of Herbs, Melons, Cucumbers and Flowers that will be transplanted out to the field once we’re convinced Summer is here. We’re even going to be doing the same thing to Summer Squash and Beans, just to be safe.
The crew loves the new property. We have so much space and starting something from scratch has been truly rewarding thus far. We all feel proud to have gotten to this point.
