It was “just us girls” this week as we embarked on eQuality’s first trip ever to our nation’s capital. We arrived at the Ronald Reagan Airport by 2pm and hopped into our first Metro bus to find our rental car. We navigated the crazy Capital that is D.C. and the girls wasted no time teasing staff as she hopelessly missed the turn off to Arlington National Cemetery not once, but twice. However, it was well worth it!

Arlington is the most famous, most visited cemetery in the country and it didn’t take us long to see why. The awe-inspiring views of the “sea of stones” were breath-taking. As the group basked in the sun on the trolley ride throughout the cemetery, we listened to our tour-guide tell us all about the historic sites. We visited the Kennedy graves and the eternal flame and even the Challenger Space Shuttle Memorial. The girls wandered through the tombstones imagining the courageous stories of all the heroes buried on our midst.

When we stopped to watch the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, one of the Associates saluted a nearby veteran and thanked him for his service. We even got to be “Kings for a Moment” as we sat center-stage at the great Memorial Amphitheater. The final stop on our tour found us exploring Arlington House, the estate of George Washington’s grandson and later, great granddaughter, the wife of Robert E. Lee. There is so much to see, we just can’t wait!
